So what are the main components of a rotary evaporator?

1. Rotating motor:
The evaporation bottle containing the sample is driven by the rotation of the motor.

2. Vacuum system:
Usually a circulating water vacuum pump is used to reduce the air pressure of the rotary evaporator system.

3. Water / oil bath
Add water or oil to the water/oil bath to heat the liquid in the rotating bottle.

4.Condenser
Also known as a serpentine condenser, a condensed liquid such as alcohol is injected into the condenser to provide cooling.

5.Receiving bottle
The distilled sample is cooled and then passed to the receiving bottle.
